Canley Vale High's First Bell

When was the significant bell first introduced to Canley Vale High ? The bell was first introduced to Canley Vale High school in 1966.

Was there a ceremony for the coming of the bell? No there was no ceremony for the coming of the bell at all.

When was the bell rung? The bell was rung for the beginning of school, for assembly, rollcall, in between periods, beginning of recess, lunch as well as at the end and also for the end of school. 

Was the bell rung on special occasions? No the bell wasn't rung on special occasions. It was just used as an ordinary school bell.

When was the bell last rung? The bell was last rung in 1977, which was 25 years ago.

Why was the bell taken down and never used again? Well, from what I was told the building that the bell was located in known as the dice wasn't a safe structure as is was leaning to the side like the "Leaning Tower Of Pisa". Also, we were told by the education department to remove the bell from the structure as parents feared that their children may be hurt if the structure fell.

Why is the bell so important to C.V.H.S? The bell is so important because the bell has been here before. Any student even stepped foot in C.V.H.S knew about the bell, and therefore it is apart of the school's history.
