Canley Vale High School was congratulated on receiving a prestigious Director-General's School Achievement Award for 2006. As reported in 'SIDE by SIDE' education gazette, "schools are nominated for their outstanding contributions to the goals of public education, and in particular, for providing opportunities for students to develop their individual talents, interests and abilities."

"Making Mathematics Matter" is a whole school initiative in numeracy and Mathematics which aims to improve student performance in SNAP, School Certificate and Higher School Certificate results. The program is a partnership between students, parents and the school.
