The Levels System for Behaviour Management

Overview
The Levels system for behaviour management is used in conjunction with the Merit Award Scheme. This system is designed so that students take responsibility for their own behaviour and know the consequences of that behaviour. They will be rewarded and recognised through the Merit Award Scheme for their achievements in the school. If they choose not to follow the School Code of Behaviour and to be disruptive the consequences of their actions area set out in the Levels System.
* There are 5 Levels. All students start on Level 5. Most students will remain at this Level
* Movement to Level 4 will occur when the class teacher has tried various management techniques including the modified version of the Glasser Plan and these have been unsuccessful
Students will move to Level 4 if they are involved in fractional truancy of that subject
The Head Teacher is responsible for placing the student on Level 4 and monitoring their progress
* Movement to Level 3 will occur if the student has been unable to resolve the difficulties they had on Level 4 or if the problem occurs in more than one faculty. The student will move to Level 3 if they are involved in the harassment of another student or involved in all day truancy. The Student Adviser will be responsible for placing and monitoring the student at this Level
* Movement to Level 2 will occur if the student has been unable to resolve the difficulties on previous Levels or for serious offence.
The Deputy Principals will be responsible for students on Level 2
* Movement to Level 1 ? suspension. Will occur if the student is involved in any serious offences and the principal is responsible for the student
* In extreme circumstances, it is possible for a student to miss Levels and more, for example, from Level 5 to Level 2 if the behaviour warrants it
* The time that is to be spent on any Level is specified. Once the student has fulfilled the requirements of a particular Level, they return to Level 5 with all privileges restored. In some cases, the Deputy Principals or Principal may return a student to a different Level.
