About Us

Purpose of the Site

Visual Arts is an interesting area of study that affects our everyday lives. Every single person knows art and is capable of creating art – it’s just a matter of how well. Consequently, we decided to whip up this engaging, content-rich and totally innovative website to serve as an educational resource that will further inform and assist students in research relating to this particular topic.

Intended Audience

This website is designed by students for students. Together with them, we also aim to target teachers as well as other educators from around the world and people in the community… basically anyone and everyone with a ‘thing’ for Art.

How the Site Was Created

A great deal of planning, organising, and timing was essential to the assembling of the final product – it was not simple at all. The main steps taken were:

- coming up with an interesting and original layout

- designing graphics to make this site appear more appealing

- analysing the information gathered and removing any gibberish in order to make sure that the information being delivered is straight to the point; and finally

- combining everything together.

Whilst all this was done we had to keep the end-user in mind at all times, we had to make sure that they were able to see the website clearly and that it was compatible with the user’s computer (in terms of screen size and resolution). We decided not to use thumbnails for the pictures because we thought there would be too much clicking, and that the pictures lower on the page would be loading while people were reading the top.

Copyright Information

This website was made from scratch meaning that there was no copyright involved. All artworks placed on this website were produced by students attending our school. We have a wealth of artistic talent!

Members of the DaVinci’s & Their Responsibilities

Andrew: In conjunction with web design, he was responsible for all the scanning and photo editing – selecting the most appropriate photos for viewing.

Daniel: Without Flash where would this dude be? He fiddled with it day after day, designing the most suitable and attractive animations and buttons.

Kathy: She assisted each and every individual in the team especially Andrew in scanning and editing the fine artworks. In the end, she proof-read the final product.

Lisa: As our typist, she interpreted technical language thus reducing it to relevant information to make it more interesting and understandable to the viewer.

Nathan: Being our web designer, he came up with a legible and interesting page layout. He was also our testing officer – making sure that the website is all ready to go and working at its best.

Soka: Using Photoshop along with his, well… shocking colour coordination, he created graphics consisting primarily of the title page, banner, logos.

Vi: We have to say, this girl is one hypo, bossy, and weird team coordinator! Nevertheless, if it wasn’t for her orders.…would we have finished?

Wendy: As the main researcher and photographer of the team, she had to collect information and take pictures to be placed on the page.

Chantol, Minh, and Vicky: As senior Art students at our school, their knowledge and understanding of Visual Arts is deeper than any other team members. Hence, the trio expressed their viewpoints towards Art.

Acknowledgements

Our team would like to take the opportunity to sincerely show appreciation of our team advisor, Mrs Best, for giving us the opportunity to enter this competition. Lacking her guidance and support, we would certainly not have been able to present such an up to standard website nor would we have realised the strength of fellowship. Many, many thanks to Mrs Best!

Furthermore, we would like to thank the Head Teacher of Visual Arts, Mrs Stynes, and the various Visual Arts students’ right through from Year 7 to 12 – particularly Year 9 Graphic Design and Year 11 Visual Design for providing us with such highly impressive works of art. Without their contribution, our website would be nowhere near what it currently is. A special mention for contributions goes to Nghi, Tiffany, Tuong, Narudeth, Shan Shan, Nina, Erica.

Many thanks to Alan in year 12 for allowing us to use his music composition and arrangement 'A Time and Place' on this page.

Last but not least, a special thanks to the wonderful ladies operating in the print room for helping us resize the artworks.
