How do you become a meteorologist? To become a meteorologist you need to start early and plan ahead. While in high school some of the subjects to choose would be chemistry, physics, and mathematics. Most importantly, score a high enough mark in the HSC to get into university. A university degree is needed with a major in physical science or mathematics. What does a meteorologist do? A meteorologist predicts the weather, measuring temperatures, measuring air pressure, recording tide heights, predicting moon phases, measuring wind speeds, measuring pollution levels, recording the UV index ....... or could even become a news reporter! They prepare daily forecasts and issue warnings for storms, bush fires and floods to the general public, pilots, and the agricultural, fishing and shipping industries.
